Artspace and Music

  • The Hudson River Music hall 10 Maple Street Hudson Falls, New York United States (map)

First, come to the art reception (1:00) for the incredible photography of Judy Mauer. Judy launched her now successful photography career with an exhibit at ARTSPACE several years ago. She returns this Sunday with her new exhibit titled “Galaxsies”. Here is a recent review:
Inside Judy Mauer's latest body of work, we are once again transported to a reality both inside and outside our own. Upon first glance one is awe inspired by the expansive beauty of our celestial universe. Then in classic Mauer style, we are simultaneously invited into a close up investigation of the moment to moment beauty of daily life. Through the focus of her lens, this time on refraction, one is transported - as if on the helm of The Starship Enterprise - into an artist's playful exploration of light, texture and surfaces. Judy Mauer delivers once again a series of smart and thoughtfully playful photographs that ultimately leave the viewer motivated to look closer at the world around them.
At 2:00 ($10 at the door), we are extremely lucky to have a performance by Sophie Buskin. Sophie is a Brooklyn based singer songwriter and the daughter of two career musicians. She has been in the studio and on stage her whole life, starting at the age of four as a jingle-singer and mini backup vocalist for the duo “Buskin & Batteau”. Since then she has sung for many notable artists including Judy Collins, Jewel, and Little Anthony. During her time at Berklee College of Music she explored different genres and techniques, from the Indie/folk scene to the gospel choir. Just within the past few years has she really begun to find her own sound.
“...Buskin combine[s] feathery vocals with wry humor that remind us of Suzanne Vega” says writer Richard Cuccaro, “We expect Sophie to be around for a long time and to continue adding great songs to her portfolio. Don’t wait, though. See her soon and see her often. You’ll want to catch every stage of her career as it unfolds.”

Her first solo CD will be available this November. For performance dates, please visit
